Of all the moves we run, Portugal is the one people tend to have thought about the longest. It is the quiet favourite — gentler weather than home, a slower pace, a coastline that goes on for miles, and a welcome that has made it one of the most popular spots in Europe to start again. It is also the furthest of our mainland routes, tucked into the south-west corner of the continent, which makes it exactly the kind of move you want in experienced hands.
We are a Lewisham firm, so most Portuguese moves begin here in SE London. But the route down does not mind where it starts — if you are relocating from elsewhere we collect from across London and the wider UK and fold your load into the same well-planned run south.
The long road down
The journey leaves Lewisham on the A20 or A2 for the M25, crosses the Channel by ferry or tunnel, then settles into a long haul through France and across or around Spain before crossing the border into Portugal. It is a big drive, and we treat it like one — packed for distance, routed sensibly, and quoted with an estimated transit window rather than a promise the road cannot keep. Times depend on your destination, the crossing and consolidation scheduling.
Where in Portugal we deliver
Lisbon and the Estoril coast draw the city movers and the commuters strung along the train line to Cascais. The Algarve — Faro, Lagos and the towns between — is the retirement and second-home heartland, and the busiest part of the country for us. Porto and the north bring the wine country and a lower-key, more traditional Portugal, while the Silver Coast in between has become a favourite for anyone after the Atlantic without the Algarve crowds.
