An international move is a different animal to a move across the borough. The distance is bigger, the paperwork is real, and once the van pulls away you cannot nip back for the thing you forgot. So we plan it properly from the start — a survey, a clear written quote, and a single crew who owns the job from your door in Lewisham to your new address abroad.

We are a Lewisham firm, so most of our European moves start right here in SE London — Catford, Brockley, Deptford, Forest Hill and the streets around the town centre. But a European removal is not fussy about where it begins. If you are relocating from further afield we collect from across London and the wider UK too, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol — the destination corridor is the same whether your load joins us in Lewisham or on the way north.

Where we go

Four European routes we know well

These are the corridors we run as dedicated route-pairs from Lewisham. Each has its own page with the roads, the regions and the customs detail — removals from Lewisham to France, moving from the UK to Spain, a household move to Italy or a fresh start in Portugal.

Moving somewhere else in Europe? We handle other destinations on request — ask us about your route and we will tell you honestly whether it is one we can do well.

How a European move actually works

Every move to the Continent follows the same shape, and knowing the shape takes most of the worry out of it:

  1. Survey. We look at what is going — in person or over video — and put real numbers behind the volume. This is what makes the quote reliable rather than a stab in the dark.
  2. Plan. We fix the route, whether you are on a part-load or a dedicated load, and how it fits your dates. You will know the plan before anything is booked.
  3. Export-wrap & pack. Furniture is wrapped for distance, fragile items are boxed properly, and a full inventory is written up — which doubles as the customs list.
  4. Customs paperwork. We prepare your declaration and inventory, and check whether you qualify for Transfer of Residence relief. We handle the forms; you sign what needs signing.
  5. Transit. The load crosses by ferry or tunnel and runs down through Europe. Times depend on the route, the crossing and consolidation scheduling — your written quote will include an estimated window.
  6. Delivery & unpack. Everything is carried into the right rooms at the other end, reassembled, and unpacked if you have asked us to.

Since Brexit — the honest version

Moving your own household goods into the EU is still perfectly doable, but it is no longer paperwork-free. Your belongings now clear customs on the way in, which means a formal declaration and a detailed, valued inventory of what you are bringing. If you are moving your main home and meet the conditions, Transfer of Residence relief usually lets you bring your used household effects in without import duty. We will tell you plainly whether you look eligible, and we prepare the paperwork either way. We never quote a customs charge as a headline number — the requirements depend on your circumstances, and your written quote spells out what is included.

Part-load or dedicated load?

A part-load shares vehicle space with other moves heading the same way — the sensible choice for a flat’s worth of belongings or a few rooms, where you do not need a whole van to yourself. A dedicated load gives you the vehicle exclusively for a straight door-to-door run, which suits a full house or a tight timetable. Neither is the budget one or the posh one — they are different tools for different loads, and we will recommend the one that genuinely fits after the survey.

Insurance

Your goods are covered in transit, and we talk you through the level of cover before the move rather than burying it in the small print. Tell us about anything especially valuable or irreplaceable and we will make sure it is accounted for properly.

What's included

What a European move from Lewisham covers

  • A proper survey first

We go through what is moving — the volume, the fragile pieces, the awkward furniture — so your written quote reflects the real job, not a guess off a phone call.

  • Export wrapping & packing

A move abroad is handled more thoroughly than a move down the road. Furniture is export-wrapped and everything is packed to travel the distance without a knock.

  • Customs paperwork handled

We prepare the customs declaration and the valued inventory, and point you through Transfer of Residence relief where you qualify. You are not left to work out the forms alone.

  • Part-load or dedicated load

Share space on a vehicle already heading your way, or take a van to yourselves for a straight run. We will explain which suits your volume and your dates.

  • Transit cover

Your belongings are covered for the journey. We will talk you through the level of cover and what it means before anything leaves Lewisham.

  • Delivery & unpack

Carried into the right rooms at the other end, with unpacking and debris removal on offer if you would rather not face a wall of boxes on arrival.
